The Inventory Control Intern will help to maintain accurate inventory levels and ensures inventory is available and ready for use. This position will be a primary resource for problem solving inventory related issues that are caused by operational inefficiencies. Cycle counting, new item setup and rack maintenance (relabeling racking and slot locations) are all new tasks that are a result of the HighJump WMS implementation. The Inventory Control Intern will help establish workflows and job tasks that are still being developed as the DC team works to fine tune the HighJump Warehouse Management System.
There will be a stretch assignment that will require project management skills. The Inventory Control Intern will work to complete and execute a Root Cause Analysis for an inventory or WMS related problems/issues for each of the DC teams (Dry/Cooler/Support). A timeline and specific expectations will be provided by the DC Process Improvement Manager. There will be weekly status updates on each of the 3 area managers. A project summary will be presented to the DC leadership team including the Director and VP of Distribution.
*Assist with cycle counting and inventory reconciliation
*Will help develop route cause analysis for inventory discrepancies
*Maintains accurate tracking records for inventory
*Review WMS screens and reports to execute daily and weekly audits
*Will be a key resource to troubleshoot and execute test scripts related to D360 implementation and WMS integration.
*UPC verification and programming
*New item set up
*Product forces- will conduct audits to ensure forces are being executed properly and will accelerate problem solving for inaccurate picks or missed stores
*Project Management- Root Cause Analysis Project .
The Inventory Control Intern will report to the Process Improvement Manager and will work closely with operations supervision. He or she will also interact with DC leadership and will participate in cross functional assignments with the Store Support. There will be times the Inventory Control Intern will be asked to communicate directly to marketing departments as well.
Minimum Education: High School Diploma
Preferred Education: Junior or Senior, relevant coursework or achievements
Licenses/Certifications: Power Equipment Experience Desired. Must be willing to train and learn. (Forklift/Pallet Jack, OSHA Training)
Soft Skills: Must be able to communicate effectively and work well in a team environment. He or she must also be able to work unsupervised.
(1) Physical - lifting items (50 lbs), climbing, kneeling, standing for long periods of time, etc.
(2) Distribution center environment; includes refrigerated and frozen areas (-20)
